Agreement

By downloading, installing, or using Open Mailer ("the Software") or visiting openmailer.app ("the Website"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Software or Website.

Description of service

Open Mailer is a local-first email client that connects to email providers you configure. The Software runs on your device and does not require a hosted Open Mailer account.

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the security of your device and email accounts
  • Complying with the terms of your email provider (Google, Microsoft, IMAP host, etc.)
  • Using the Software in compliance with applicable laws
  • Any content you send, receive, or store through connected accounts

Open-source software

Open Mailer is provided as open-source software under the MIT License. Source code is available for review, modification, and redistribution subject to the license terms included with the project.

No warranty

THE SOFTWARE AND WEBSITE ARE PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE ERROR-FREE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR SECURE.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OPEN MAILER CONTRIBUTORS AND OPERATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SOFTWARE OR WEBSITE.

Third-party services

The Software may connect to third-party email and authentication services. Your use of those services is governed by their separate terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.

Updates

We may release updates to the Software or Website at any time. Update availability may depend on your platform and version. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of updated terms posted on this page.

Termination

You may stop using the Software at any time by uninstalling it and disconnecting linked accounts from your provider settings. We may discontinue the Website or Software distribution at any time.

Governing law

These terms are governed by applicable law in the jurisdiction where disputes arise, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where prohibited by local law.
